Stakeholders' Perspectives
From April to June 2024, The McMaster Institute for Transportation and Logistics conducted 24 interviews with 32 organizational representatives. Organizations selected each have a significant stake in the decarbonization of medium- and heavy-duty vehicles in Canada.
Quantitative (machine learning text analysis) and qualitative (scoping review) methods were utilized to identify barriers and enablers in the adoption of zero-emission medium- and heavy-duty vehicles (ZEMHDVs) in fleet operations, providing a comprehensive snapshot of the unfolding but challenging adoption process in fleet contexts.
The interview data collection process was approved by the McMaster Research Ethics Board (Certificate #7047).
The barriers and enablers that were identified through the process can be examined in an interactive fashion via the link below. A second link provides an overview report of the interview results and a final link provides a recorded webinar on the topic delivered in March 2025.
